Preparing
and Caring For Your Pet's Senior Years...
Your
pet is one of your best friends, providing you and your family with unconditional
love adn companionship. Make sure the senior years are happy and healthy
by providing the special care your pet needs.
Regular
dental care, vaccinations, control of parasites and a special senior diet
are important for good health care. Laboratory tests, x-rays and an ECG
are important for the early detection of diseases which can decrease your
pet's life expectancy.
The
Keys To A Healthy Pet and Increasing Your Pet's Life Expectancy Is Early
Detection and Prevention of Disease!
Pets
may appear healthy and normal yet harbor subclinical disease. Signs of
subclinical diseases often go unnoticed in apparently healthy pets. Many
conditions, if diagnosed early, can be completely reversed or controlled.
IMPORTANT
FACT!
Data from Senior Health Screening Exams
have shown that more than 22% of senior dogs and 17% of senior cats that
appear normal and healthy by their owner have been found to have significant
subclinical disease.
Laboratory
tests are important means which help us to diagnose blood disorders, kidney
and liver disease, diabetes, infection, cancer, thyroid disease and other
hormonal problems before they become clinically apparent. ECG's help us
to diagnose heart disease. Radiographs help us to diagnose heart disease.
Often, by the time your notice symptoms of disease with a senior pet,
the disease may have advanced to the point of being difficult and expensive
to treat. Early disease detection may give our veterinarians more treatment
options with a better chance of success.
A
Senior Health Screening Exam involves sophisticated laboratory analysis
of your pet's body functions include blood, liver, kidneys, heart, pancreas,
electrolyte balance and thyroid. Not only does this screening aid in diagnosing
early disease conditions, it will also establisha baseline of normal values.
It is important that this individual baseline of your pet's health be
established before his senior years as it can be used in the future to
detect changes in bodily functions that could signal a health problem.

Open
House Update
Our
6th Annual Open House on September 9th was a success. It was a fun filled
day which included a free BBQ Lunch, clinic tours, silent auction, teddy
bear surgery, games and much more! We are always excited to open our doors
to the public to celebrate the human-animal bond. Please visit our NEWS
page on this website to view more photos taken at the Open House. If you
didn't make it this year, be sure and come next year. Due to the ourstanding
support of the Good Samaritan Silen Auction we raised over $3,000 this
year. The money will help several homeless, ownerless animals in need
of medical care. We really appreciate both the support of those that donated
items to the silent auction and those who were fortunate to be top bidders.
Thank
you!
A Special THANKS to our silent auction prize donors and
recipients!
